AMERICO Larvicidal Oil (Anti-Malarial Oil)

AMERICO Larvicidal Oil is a first-grade larvicidal oil containing a non-ionic surfactant, formulated to control mosquito larvae and pupae in standing water. Once spread on water it forms a thin oil film that suffocates larvae and pupae — one of the few larvicides effective against both stages. No dilution is needed: simply spray onto stagnant water surfaces, using very little product. The oil film is rapidly broken down by sunlight and microorganisms into harmless substances, so environmental impact is low. Meets World Health Organization (WHO) specification SIF/23. 100% made in Singapore.

Key features

First-grade larvicidal oil
Contains a non-ionic surfactant to increase spreading pressure for better control.
Kills larvae and pupae
Forms an oil film that suffocates both — one of few larvicides treating both stages.
No dilution
Spray directly onto stagnant water; minimal usage, simple to apply.
Environmentally friendly
The oil film breaks down quickly under sunlight and microbes into harmless substances.

How it works

Larvicidal oil is a specially refined petroleum for mosquito control, suitable for environments where standing water cannot be removed and mosquitoes breed. Because it spreads through the water and then forms a thin film on the surface, only a very small amount is needed.

The oil works mainly by suffocating larvae and pupae — it is the only larvicide that effectively controls both mosquito larvae and pupae. As the oil is rapidly broken down by sunlight and microorganisms into harmless substances, it should not cause significant environmental damage.

Because mosquitoes concentrate their growth in breeding sites during the larval stage, using a larvicide is an effective way to tackle mosquitoes at this stage and reduces the future need for adulticides. Larviciding should therefore always be considered first.

Safety & hazard information

Hazardous components: Contains polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), some of which have been shown by experimental studies to induce skin cancer; Kerosene (Xn, R10, R22, R33, R52/53). Hazards identification: Irritating to the skin; prolonged or repeated contact may eventually result in dermatitis or more serious skin disorders, including cancer. Harmful if swallowed; aspiration hazard. Read the label and safety data sheet before use and wear appropriate protective equipment; avoid contact with skin and eyes, and wash thoroughly after use.
